Team Marcus raise £4,300 for Somerset Lung Centre
Team Marcus, a family of local fundraisers based in Street, have donated a huge £4,300 to the Somerset Lung Centre, based here at Musgrove Park Hospital.
The Team raised money in loving memory of Marcus Birch, who was a patient in the Centre. He was remembered fondly by friends and family, and the staff of the Centre. The Somerset Lung Centre helps patients with conditions that make breathing difficult.
The money will be used to purchase a brand new Cough Assist Machine, which helps patients with their breathing. Staff will take the equipment out with them on visits throughout the local community, so the impact of this donation will be felt all over Somerset.
Team Marcus organised a huge event to raise funds. This included a large and very high value raffle, with support from local businesses and members of their community. They also raised money with some mouse racing, with attendees betting on which mouse might finish first.
Dan Varley, Community Fundraiser at Love Musgrove, said: “What a lovely way to honour the memory of Marcus, and to support a cause that is so close to their hearts. We are incredibly grateful for the donation and are so pleased that the money will be spent on a piece of equipment that will have such an impact.”
